I know that the invocation and the offeratory prayer is a part of what a Worship Leader would do, along with bringing others into a worship and fellowship a one-on-one with Christ.

@Lyn: So what would you say someone given the "title" of worship leader does during a service?

I want to hear your answer before responding to be sure I know where you're coming from.

My terminology of a Worship Leader sometimes gets confusing because here is my question? If a person is asked to do the invocation and the offeratory prayer should they really be called the Worship Leader?

I bought Laura's album this past fall and have been tremendously blessed. Now to hear this story, I am so touched and blessed to know that Laura truly means and lives the words she sings.

when I used to lead in worship in a mainstream church there was a lot of how to and red tape religous rules that stifled one's creative energy to worship freely. But, now a few years have passed and there are more worship leaders who are going for what God is asking of them (fearing God not man). At present I am on a team of worshippers at a street church ministry that serves the homeless and those who need clothes, food, and most of all love. We have our church service every Sunday and because most of the congration can read a phony a mile away, you must be one with the Spirit of the Living God or your wasting everyone's talents and energy. The focus is to know God and to desire Him and all that He commands.

Beautiful walk, beautiful song. I thought she had written this, but it turns out this is the only song on her new CD that she didn't write. Go figure. :)

We began incorporating "Mighty to Save" into worship last month. It's beautiful!
